Beacon of Hope...Light of Christ was founded in 2005 to celebrate all that is good in an active Catholic faith, to participate in the identification of challenges faced by the Catholic Church, and to offer solutions for adoption by the Church in real and meaningful ways. As Christian People of God, we are committed Catholics, dedicated to sustaining a positive, compelling and progressive influence within the Catholic Church on matters of education and governance. We are strong in our faith, diverse in the worship paths we walk, and committed through the Holy Spirit to the ideals of Vatican II.
Beacon of Hope...Light of Christ members come together in our resolve to share our faith, to promote insights, and support accountable governance within our Catholic Church, through collaboration among the priesthood of the laity and the ordained as represented by Vatican II. We support a Catholic Church that we know to be clear and consistent in matters of faith, but often inconsistent and ineffective in matters of governance and inclusion.
Beacon of Hope...Light of Christ encourages active worship based on individual calling. We are not an alternative church. We encourage all of our Catholic members to establish and maintain an active faith life within the parish of their choice. We also recognize that we are all called by the Father, through the Holy Spirit, to praise, love and teach according to the words of Jesus and the talents we are given.
Beacon of Hope...Light of Christ members serve as witnesses of our Risen Lord and of the early Church that caught fire with His love and the inspired guidance of Holy Spirit. We are a “Risen Community” characterized by faith, hope & love. By embracing the ideals of Vatican II, we subscribe to a dynamic, inclusive and transparent governance of the Catholic Church, and full participation in our Catholic mission.
Beacon of Hope...Light of Christ has an evolving four-fold mission consistent with criteria established during Vatican II:
- To provide a forum for continuing education, spiritual growth and social community to Catholics and other faith based people,
- To help through our prayer, counsel, social support, and our limited economic resources, those who may have been injured by Catholic Church officials;
- To seek and promote spiritual and social healing by encouraging forgiveness in Christ’s mercy and restorative justice for those wrongly displaced or injured within the Catholic Church; and,
- To discover and explore the issues or events within the Catholic Church that justify a continued search for insights and solutions initiated by Vatican II.
